Rain and snow in HP continues
Shimla, Oct 20 (UNI) Wintry conditions have set in early in Himachal Pradesh this year with high altitude areas of the state experiencing intermittent snowfall for the second day today with widespread rains in lower parts of the state, the met office today said.
People were shivering under intense coldwave conditions with temperatures in the high altitude areas of Kinnuar, Lahual Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kangra districts plummeting by a few degrees after experiencing another spell of snowfall since last night.
The met office said Kalpa in Kinnuar distirct recorded a night temperature of 1.2 degree Celsius today as against three degrees recorded last night.
Rohtang Pass, situated at a height of 13050 feet, Baralacha Pass and other high mountain peaks in Lahaul district, almost all high mountain peaks in Pangi and Bharmaur areas of Chamba and Kinnuar district were receiving intermittent snowfall since last night.
Dhauladhar Ranges, overlooking the Kangra Valley, were experiencing snowfall since last night, while heavy rains lashed the lower areas followed by high velocity winds.
The higher reaches of Bara Bangal also experienced mild snowfall accompanied by strong icy cold winds, plummeting temperatures in the entire district.
The inclement weather has forced the organisers of the Paragliding Himalyan Cup to abort the today's task since the pilots could not take off.
