Poll violence: AIADMK MLA remanded to police custody
Chennai, Oct 20 (UNI) A lower court in suburban Poonamallee today remanded AIADMK MLA P K Sekar Babu in police custody till October 25, in connection with a criminal case registered against him in the aftermath of the violence-marred Chennai Corporation Polls on October 13.
Mr Sekar babu, who was arrested on charges of instigating party cadre to indulge in violence by using petrol bombs, was produced before second Judicial Magistrate Malarvizhi today.
He was arrested at a private hospital, where he was undergoing treatment two days after the violent incidents and lodged in Chennai Central Prison.
After the police filed a petition seeking custody of Mr Sekar Babu for interrogation, the court granted five days custody and directed the police produce him before the court on October 25.
