One held for burglary attempt in police station

Pathanamthitta, Oct 20 (UNI) Pathanamthitta police arrested Vinodkumar alias Ullas (26), today in connection with the burglary attempt at Pathanamthitta town police station.

Talking to newspersons here, Pathanamthitta SP M N Jayaprakash said Vinodkumar was nabbed from Ittiyappara bus station at Ranni by a team of special squad led by Pathanamthitta crime detachment Dy SP R Krishnankutty.

The policemen on duty discovered a hole bored on the wall of the armoury room in the wee hours of October nine. The arrested was in the lock-up on October seven following a drunken brawl. SP said the accused marked the room in which money also was kept watching from his cell. The lust for money was the motivation behind the attempt for burglary, said Mr Jayaprakash.

The special investigation team foccussed their attention on the inmates of the lock-up during the couple of days previous to the day on which burglary was attempted.

Mr Vinodkumar was found missing from the house of his second wife Sandhya since the burglary attempt. This situation finally led to his arrest, the SP added.

He was produced before the Chief Judicial First Class Magistrate Court which remanded him to the Pathanamthitta sub-jail.
