Nalin Surie appointed Secretary at MEA headquarters
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Nalin Surie, currently India's Ambassador to China, has been appointed Secretary at the Headquarters of the External Affairs Ministry here from today.
Mr Surie, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1973 batch, will be replaced by India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ms Nirupama Rao who was appointed Ambassador to China on September 27.
''The Appointments Comittee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr Nalin Surie, presently Ambassador of India to China, as Secretary at the Headquarters of the MEA with effect from today,'' a senior official said.
Before going to China, Mr Surie was Additional Secretary (East Asia) in the External Affairs Ministry.
