Miracle-faking ''Sadhvi'' gets bail

Nagpur, Oct 20 (UNI) Jain ''Sadhvi'' Siddhishri alias Samata Babaulal Khabia, her alleged lover Rajanikant alias Raju alias Rajjubhaiyya Talwar and the latter's mother Suman were granted bail by a court in Amravati today.

The three had been arrested on Wednesday on charges of attempting to misguide the police and trying to hurt religious sentiments after they tried to make the Sadhvi's disappearance from her lodging in the city look like a miracle.

The police sought magisterial custody for the three, but Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Varsha Fulzele accepted the defence assurance that they would co-operate with the police in the investigations, and granted them bail.

Local office bearers of the Maratha Sewa Sangh have provided personal bonds required for the grant of the bail. The three have been asked to report to the Rajapeth Police Station on October 26.

Samata, Raju, Suman and Raju's sister Roopali left for Sangli in a private bus today under police escort.

Contrary to earlier reports, Roopali has not been arrested, the police clarified today.

There had been sensation in Amravati after the ''Sadhvi'' mysteriously disappered, leaving behind a pile of ash, amid claims that she had been miraculously incinerated. It later transpired that the miracle was a hoax perpetrated by the ''Sadhvi'' and Raju.
