Metro to increase frequency of trains for Diwali
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Anticipating huge rush on the occasion of Diwali, Delhi Metro will run trains more frequently throughout the day tomorrow.
Trains on line 1 (Shahadara to Rithala) and Line 2 (Central Secretariat to Vishwa Vidyalaya) would run every four minutes and on line 3 (Barakhamba to Dwarka) every five minutes from 0600 hrs to 2000 hrs, metro sources said.
Services would, however, not be available after 2000 hrs.
The increased frequency would add up to about 110 extra train trips in the day.
Metro had been registering an increase in ridership in the last four days with about 5.25 lakh people using it in place of 4.30 to 4.75 lakh people using it each day on an average.
Normally, the trains run every four to 15 minutes on different lines during different parts of the day between 0600 hrs to 2230 hrs.
