Maharashtra dominates 52 Natl School Games
Bilaspur, Oct 20 (UNI) Maharashtra dominated the 52nd National School Games in this Chhattisgarhi town by bagging top spot even in the march-past.
The District Education Department hosted the six-day event that concluded yesterday and witnessed participation by 1,300 talents from across 25 states. The Chhattisgarh contingent won the award for best discipline.
In table-tennis, the under-14 boys team championship went to Gujarat, Maharashtra was runners-up and Tamil Nadu took third spot. In the under-17 category the honours went to West Bengal, Karnataka and Maharashtra while the sequence was Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in the under-19 category.
In under-14 girls, the winners were Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi, in under-17 they were West Bengal, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and in under-19 the victors were Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal respectively.
In handball, the under-14 boys category winners were Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Manipur. The corresponding spots in under-14 girls went to Haryana, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
Among those present at the valedictory programme were Assembly Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey, his deputy Badridhar Diwan, School Education Minister Megharam Sahu and local MP Karuna Shukla.
