Left's No to PM's 'No Large Plan' plea
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The Left parties today came down heavily on the Manmohan Singh Government, saying its plans for maintaining the fiscal stability was a ''wrong approach'' as it has been designed at the cost of poor, working classes and farmers.
Referring to observations made by the Prime Minister at a Planning Commission meeting against a larger Plan Size, CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan termed it as a ''wrong approach''.
''This is a wrong aproach...There should be a larger Plan Size for improving rural infrastructure, reducing unemployment, poverty and destitution.... If the Plan is not large, these problems will linger on. These cannot be tackled this way.'' On the agrarian crisis and farmers' suicides, Mr Bardhan said the approach of the UPA Government had been negative. ''Since the advent of the so-called economic reforms, agrarain sector had been ignored continuously,'' he added.
