Left to contest jointly in Nalanda and Bhagalpur: Thakur
Patna, Oct 20 (UNI) The CPI and CPI(M) would jointly contest the by-election to Lok Sabha seats in Nalanda and Bhagalpur slated for November 6.
CPI(M) state secretary Vijay Kant Thakur said today that a decision to this effect was taken in a meeting here, attended by leaders of both the parties.
The CPI(M) workers would make efforts to ensure victory of CPI candidate Gaya Singh in Nalanda while the CPI would reciprocate the same for Subodh Rai, the CPM candidate in Bhagalpur, he added.
Mr Thakur said that the Congress workers had thrown their hats behind the Left candidates, although the central leadership of the Congress was yet to issue any directive in this connection. The LJP, one of the constituent unit of the UPA, had also decided to support the Left parties in both the constituencies.
