Land acquisitions in UP and WB totally different from AP : S P
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today sought to differentiate the land acquisitions taking place in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal for Special Economic Zones and the 'land grabbing' that had taken place around the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad.
''The land acquisitions in UP and West Bengal for power project in Dadri or for Tata Motors in West Bengal are of different category as no farmer was divested of his land using the government's 4 (1) notification nor there was withdrawal of these notifications after the lands were taken over. It is for a definite purpose and not used as a money making instrument,'' he said extending his party's support to Telugu Desam's fight against the Andhra Pradesh's acquisition.
He said it was important to find out who was behind the SEZs acquisitions where 25,000 hectares of land was acquired in the states of Maharashtra, Punjab and Haryana. Nothing was stopped notwithstanding the so called opposition from Congress President Sonia Gandhi, he said noting that government and the ruling party were playing the roles of both the Opposition as well as the goverment.
He said his party along with TDP, Asom Gana Parishad and AIADMK together numbering over 80 MPs would raise the issue as an adjournment motion in the forthcoming Parliament session. UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would address the TDP rally of affected farmers at Hyderabad.
