Kerala HC grants bail to 5 SIMI activists
Kochi, Oct 20 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today granted bail to five activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), arrested at Aluva, near here, on August 15 for allegedly trying to spread their activities.
Justice J M James granted bail to the five activists - Shaduli, Abdul Rafeeq, Shamas, Ansar and Nizamuddin - on condition that they will have to furnish bail bonds of Rs 25,000 each alongwith two sureties of like amount.
The court also directed them to report to the Sub-Inspector, Binanipuram police station, once in a week for the next three weeks.
Thereafter, they should report once in a month until further orders.
The five youths were among 18 people detained by the police on August 15 for holding a study class at Aluva. While the other 13 were let off, these five were arrested.
After being kept in police custody for some time, they were remanded into judicial custody.
