Irfan sustains minor glass cut injury in right forearm
Vadodara, Oct 20 (UNI) India's strike bowler Irfan Pathan today sustained a minor glass cut injury in his right forearm but is said to be absolutely fit to carry on practice, ahead of India's second match in the ongoing Champions Trophy against West Indies slated for October 26.
Irfan, who is now in the city to celebrate Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) with his family on October 24, reportedly got injured with a piece of glass, while cleaning a glass article at his Tandalja Hazi Park residence.
The speedster was immediately taken to a private hospital and discharged after being given proper medical aid.
City plastic surgeon Dr Sachin Shah, who treated Irfan, said the injury in his forearm was very minor and the cricketer was absolutely fit to play.
When contacted, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) secretary Kiran More said, ''Irfan is absolutely fine as the injury was very minor.
There was nothing to be worried,'' he added.
Irfan's mother Shamim Bano said her son was fine and had already left for daily routine practice. He would be leaving for Ahmedabad tomorrow, for the India-West Indies ODI to be played at Sardar Patel stadium on October 26, she added.
