Infiltration bid foiled in Kashmir, militant killed

Srinagar, Oct 20 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) personnel today foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez sector of north Kashmir.

BSF Spokesman Vikram Manhas said that the personnel of the Force's 63rd battalion noticed the movement of heavily armed militants near the Line of Control (LoC) on the Indian side early this morning.

As the BSF personnel intercepted the infiltrators and asked them to surrender, the militants opened fire on the troops.

Mr Manhas said that the fire was effectively retaliated by the troops, resulting in a fierce gun-battle in which one intruder has been killed so far.

He said that two AK rifles were also seen lying near the body of the slain militant while the gunfight was still on when reports last came in.

Mr Manhas said that it is difficult to ascertain how many infiltrators are there in the group.
