Generally cloudy day in Delhi, mercury drops to 29 degrees C

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Cool climes ushered in Delhi yesterday by light rains continued today as weathermen forecast more showers and further drop in mercury in the capital in the coming days, raising hopes for abatement of 'Dengue blues'.

A day after lights rains brought about a sharp drop in temperatures in Delhi, a generally overcast sky and Easterly winds maintained coolness in the air.

The maximum temperature today further dropped to 29 degree Celsius while the minimum dropped to 19 degrees C.

Also, the drop in mercury brought about by the rains and thundershowers is likely to continue in the coming days. Infact, weathermen said that with the setting of Northerly winds, night temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4 deg C over Northwest India during the next 2-3 days.

The met office has predicted that the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to drop to 28 degree C tomorrow while the minimum temperature would drop to 18 degrees C.

The overcast conditions in Delhi are also likely to persist for another day or two with the weathermen forecasting that ongoing rainfall activity over Northwest India was likely to continue during the next 24 hours.

For Delhi, the met office has forecasted a generally cloudy sky with the possibility of one or two spells of thundershowers during the next 24 hours.

Experts feel the onset of cool weather after Diwali, which normally marks the beginning of the Winter could lead to abatement of the Dengue menace as the Aedes mosquito which causes the disease breeds mostly in warm and humid weather.
