Five teenaged boys drown in river Krishna
Raichur, Karnataka, Oct 20 (UNI) In a tragic incident, at least five teenaged boys were feared drowned in river Krishna at Huvinahedagi bridge near Devdurg town in this district, when they went for a swim today.
Devdurg Circle Inspector S Y Hunsikatti told UNI that eight boys from the town, aged about 15 years and studying in tenth standard, went to the river for a bath as it was a holiday today on account of Deepavali festival.
He said none of the boys knew swimming and when the first boy drowned, one of his classmates tried to rescue him, but he also got drowned. The three others also met with a watery grave while trying to rescue their friends.
Three bodies were fished out of the river. A boat was requisitioned from Raichur to trace the other two bodies. The dead were yet to be identified, the official added.
