Farmers seek CM's help to ensure good price for vanilla

Kottayam, Oct 20 (UNI) Vanilla Growers Association of Kerala leaders today appealed to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to take immediate steps to ensure remunerative price for vanilla and save the growers.

Talking to mediapersons here, they said the two-lakh odd growers in the state were facing a crisis following price fall. The present price for raw vanilla was only Rs 70 per kg against the international market rate of above Rs 200, they pointed out.

They appealed to the State Government and Spices Board to take immediate steps to market vanilla and increase domestic consumption.
