Eleven inmates injured in conflict in jail
Ratlam, MP, Oct 19 (UNI) Eleven inmates were injured, one of them seriously, in a bloody duel between two groups in a jail in this district last evening, police said today.
On receiving information, Collector J N Malpani, Superintendent of Police Satish Saxena and other senior officers reached the jail.
The injured prisoners were being provided treatment at the jail, while one seriously injured was admitted to the district hospital.
Mr Saxena said Gulfam, accused of murdering Congress leader Rashid Khan, had an argument with Narayan Jat, who was arrested on the charge of unleashing deadly assault on district excise officer Sanjeev Dubey along with eleven other people .
A duel ensued between Narayan Jat, his brother Daulat Jat and Gulfam. Soon, big spoons and knives came out and were used as weapons.
A case was registered for rioting and attempt to murder against both sides.
He said immediate police action helped to check the situation.
Mr Malpani said he had directed the jail superintendent to take steps and shift one group somewhere else to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
Besides, intense search was being carried out in the jail to find out hidden arms.
