DGP seeks support of civilians in curbing militancy
Agartala, Oct 20 (UNI) Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) G M Srivastava today urged the people to help security forces curb the menace of terrorism in the state.
Inaugurating the new building of Takarjala Police Station in Tripura's West District, the DGP reiterated that without the support of the common people terrorism could not be wiped out from the state.
''Whatever success the security forces have achieved so far is mainly due to the support of the civilians,'' said Mr Srivastava.
He further said the militants had spilled blood at will in the past in Takarjala and adjoining areas. ''But at all cost peace has been restored and with the support of locals this endeavour of the jawans will continue,'' added the DGP.
Speaking at the passing out parade of a fresh batch of 692 TSR jawans at Gokulnagar in Tripura's West District, Mr Srivastava said the TSR jawans would continue to play a pivotal role in keeping insurgents on the run across the state.
''I hope the newly passed out jawans would put up a brave front in the near future to curb the menace of insurgency in the state,'' the DGP added.
