Dengue toll touches 118; Delhi accounts for 1202 cases
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The death toll due to dengue rose to 118 with Delhi alone accounting for 1,202 cases while the Chikungunya threat appeared to be receding as no deaths were reported from anywhere in the country during the past 24 hours.
As many as 6,910 cases of dengue and 1,665 confirmed Chikungunya cases were reported from various parts of the country, including Delhi, up to 1230 hrs today.
Delhi alone accounted for 1,202 cases of the 1,908 dengue cases and 35 deaths reported from Delhi, NCR and other adjoining states.
Of the 88 new dengue cases reported during the past 24 hours in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, 58 cases were from Delhi, 21 from Uttar Pradesh and eight from Haryana.
The maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Rajasthan (838), followed by Kerala (834), West Bengal (600), Maharashtra (582), Uttar Pradesh (510), Gujarat (456), Punjab (413), Tamil Nadu (307), Haryana (232), Karnataka (92) and Andhra Pradesh (60).
In the case of Chikungunya, 28 cases have been reported from Delhi and NCR region during the past 24 hours. Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of confirmed Chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679) followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (170), Tamil Nadu (111), Madhya Pradesh (62), Kerala (38), Rajasthan (24) and Puducherry (9).
