CM directs officials to ensure every village has a tank
Hyderabad, Oct 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today instructed officials of the irrigation department to ensure that every village in the state had a water tank.
Talking to media persons after a meeting with the Chief Minister who had reviewed the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP), Rural Development Minister D Srinivas said that Dr Reddy had instructed officials to identify water bodies in all the villages and de-silt them. Where repairs were necessary, it should be attended on an urgent basis.
Srinivas said that the Chief Minister also wanted a minor irrigation tank in each village and instructed the officials to create one if it was not available in a village.
The Minister said following the instructions of the Chief Minister, officials would be sending their reports on the availability of tanks and the money required for the repairs and the programme would be taken up as early as possible.
