Centre-NSCN (IM) talks begins in Amsterdam

Kohima, Oct 20: To hammer out an acceptable and honourable solution to the vexed Naga political problem, talks between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) has begun in Amsterdam while seeking suggestions and proposals from foreign experts, according to reports received here.

Sources said Michael C van Walt van Praag and Yash Ghai of the Netherlands-based NGO ''Kreddha'' and the Professor of Public Law at the University of Hong Kong respectively were present during the discussion between the two parties yesterday.

Initially, the intervention of the experts was not accepted by the representatives of the Government of India (GoI) because of political concerns, but it was later agreed that the experts would only provide suggestions and proposals, if any.

Further details were still awaited, sources said.
