Bus-pass system to be introduced from November six: BEST
Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking today announced the introduction of the 'Bus Pass Scheme', from November six, on an experimental basis.
BEST is confident that this innovation will attract more passengers. The total volume of BEST passengers had declined sharply since January first, following a hike in their fare.
Addressing mediapersons here, BEST chairman Surendra Bagalwakar revealed that they had observed that after the bus fare revision last year, the number of passengers had declined. With a view to arrest any further slump, BEST has decided to introduce a 'Bus pass system,' like the ones that exist in local trains.
He explained that the passes would be issued to the passengers for travel between any two destinations of his choice, upto a maximum distance of seven kms.
For the convenience of the passengers, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and quarterly passes would be issued, he added.
