BJP actvists burn Afzal in effigy, demand his hanging

Chandigarh, Oct 20 (UNI) The local BJP leaders and other party activists here today burnt Mohammad Afzal Guru is effigy demanding his hanging for his conviction in the attack on Parliament in 2001.

The BJP's youth wing Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists gathered at the party office here, raised anti-government slogans and burnt Guru is effigy in the wake of his hanging being deferred for the time being by the Centre.

Former MP Satya Pal Jain and the party's Chandigarh unit chief Yashpal Mahajan were also present during the agitation.

In Hoshiarpur also, the BJYM activists burnt Afzal's effigy, demanding his immediate hanging.
