Balaji Q2 net up 13.4% at Rs 19.29 cr

New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Balaji Telefilms Ltd today posted a 13.4 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 19.29 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2006, as compared to Rs 17.01 crore during the same period last year.

The total income of the company jumped 17.32 per cent at Rs 83.79 crore during Q2FY07 from Rs 71.42 crore during Q2FY06, a company statement said.

Balaji Telefilms, which presently has its operations in Mumbai, has tied up with the Dubai Film City for opening an office in Dubai which will primarily produce serials for Geo TV and Ary Gold which will be made in Urdu and Arabic languages.

The first of these Balaji serials, featuring actors from the Gulf, will begin shooting in November, official sources said.
