Tata Motors to launch 'small' car in 2008
Chandigarh, Oct 19 (UNI) India's leading automobile company, Tata Motors will launch its 'small' car, expected to be priced at Rs one lakh, in 2008.
''Work on this car is progressing smoothly and if all goes well, we will launch the car in the first half of 2008'', the company's Regional Manager (North), Anupam Singh said while talking to mediapersons after the inaguration of Joshi Auto Zone, the company's 142nd car dealership in the country.
This car would be available in both petrol and diesel models, he added.
Mr Singh said the company had recently acquired a manufacturing facility in Uttaranchal. The annual production capacity of this plant would be 30,000 cars, he added.
Refering to the passenger car segment, Mr Singh said that it was growing at the rate of 20 per cent and Tata's growth rate was an impressive 24 per cent. In the current financial year, Tata's had sold 1,04,294 cars in all categories, he said.
