Soz welcomes shifting of Kashir Channel to Srinagar
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today welcomed the decision to shift the operational and administrative control of Kashir channel from New Delhi to Srinagar.
''The decision to shift the Kashir Channel to Srinagar constitutes fulfillment of a long pending demand of the producers and artistes from Kashmir Valley and is a big step towards expanding the coverage of electronic media in the State,'' Prof Soz said.
He said decision would help in improving the content and quality of the channel's programmes.
The senior Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir said the launch of the FM Rainbow, by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi in Srinagar yesterday, would extend the reach of radio to even remote areas of the state.
The radio programmes will be relayed by seven different stations of All India Radio in various parts of the state.
Mr Dasmunsi made the announcement of decision to shift Kashir channel to the state in Srinagar yesterday.
