Single CET to be discussed on Oct 27

Bangalore, Oct 19 (UNI) The Karnataka Government is convening a meeting on October 27 to discuss the introduction of a single Common Entrance Test (CET) for all professional courses from next year in the State, Medical Education Minister V S Acharya said today.

Talking to reporters here, he said he was holding meeting with the managements of private colleges, including the lingustic and religious minority institutions, for sorting out the problem permanently. He had made much progress in this direction, he added, hoping to sort out the issue soon.

Presently, three CETs were conducted by the Government, private managements and minority institutions.

Dr Acharya said the Goverment was planning to set up a cathlab and trauma centre at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in Hubli at a cost Rs 25 crore as part of the silver jubilee celebrations to be be held next year.

Besides, it had planned to set up a diabetes institute in the city at an initial cost of Rs eight crore. The institute would be ready in a year, he said.
