Sensex opens strong by 23 pts, marginally down
Mumbai, Oct 19: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) today opened 23 points in the green at 12,881.80, primarily on account of strong global cues.
However, the Sensex seems reluctant to cross the 13k figure.
Experts believe it is a cautious approach and we need to wait till the end of the month.
Today, the Sensex in its early move touched a high of 12,925.60 and is currently trading at 12,800.06, which is 58.42 points below the previous close.
Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE, Capital Goods is down by 0.70 per cent, Consumer Durables by 1.15 per cent and the IT and Technology by 0.27 and 0.42 per cent respectively.
List of gainers on BSE-30 index are Dr Reddy's Lab, HLL, Tata Motors, Cipla, Grasim industries and BHEL, all up between 0.12 to 0.43 per cent.
Besides, the losers are Bajaj Auto, Reliance Communications, L&T, Satyam, HDFC, ICICI, Hindalco, Ranbaxy, Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel all down between 0.72 to 3.62 per cent.
