Security increased at Karippur Airport following bomb threat
Kozhikode, Oct 19 (UNI) Security measures at Karippur International Airport near here were further tightened following receipt of a letter threatening to blow up flights originating from the airport to various destinations today.
Airport Director R Veerasami told UNI the security agencies, in an emergency meeting, decided to frisk passengers at ladder point and check all the handbags in addition to the normal security drill.
Attended by top officials of the Airport Intelligence Security, the Airports Authority of India and Central Industrial Security Force among others, the meeting also decided to increase the level of alert and surveillance in and around the airport, Mr Veerasami said.
Two days ago, Mr Veerasami had received an anonymous letter threatening to blow up flights taking off from the airport following which security was further tightened.
