Rupee up five paise, closes at Rs 45.32/33 per USD

Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI) The rupee today closed five paise up at Rs 45.332/33 per US dollar as compared to the previous close of Rs 45.37 per USD, as the Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued to sell in the market, a money market trader said.

The next rally is expected at Rs 45.25 per USD level. However, the rebound to Rs 45.60 per USD is also not ruled out by the end of the month, the trader added.

Earlier, the domestic currency opened up at Rs 45.34/35 per USD and in the mid-morning traded low at Rs 45.31.50/45.32.50 per USD.

The six-month forward premia was fixed at 1.59 per cent and the one-year premia was at 1.54 per cent.

Reserve Bank of India today fixed the reference Rate at Rs 45.32 per USD.

The performance of rupee against other currencies was not so good. Against Euro, the Rupee closed at Rs 56.90, against Pound Sterling it closed at Rs 84.65 and against Yen it closed at Rs 38.20 UNI VS SSS SKB1858
