Retd Army Officer sentenced 5 yrs imprisonment for rape

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) A Delhi Court today sentenced five years imprisonment to a retired senior Army Officer for raping a 17-year-old at his residence in Vasant Kunj in South Delhi on March 6, 2003.

Additional Sessions Judge K C Lohia also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on Lt. Col. (Retd) Kumar Parti, who raped the woman who had come to his house to look for her mother-in-law, working as a maid servant in his house.

The Court said Rs 40,000 would be awarded to the victim. Out of which Rs 30,000 would be kept as fixed deposit for a period of five years and the maturity amount would be given to her.

When the woman came, 65-year-old Parti called her inside and asked her to clean the utensils. Then he bolted the doors and raped her.

The woman complained to her mother-in-law, who lodged a complaint with the police.
