Raymond Ltd signs MoU with NIFT

Mumbai, Oct 19: Textile and apparel major Raymond Ltd today announced the signing of a comprehesive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the premier institute of fashion design, management and technology in India.

Briefing reporters here, Raymond Ltd Group President and Wholetime Director Pradeep Bhandari said, ''This is the first of its kind tie up in India, which will provide Raymond an access to the best of design inputs and talent from NIFT in order to enhance its tailoring services. The company also intends to recognise and encourage fresh talents and reward excellence at NIFT by instituting the Raymond Scholarship on an ongoing basis. Raymond currently has largest network of tailors operating under one brand at over 330 retail outlets in 170 cities.''

''NIFT will provide skilled faculty and infrastructure in terms of equipment and location and will train the tailoring services team at Raymond in various aspects including fits, correct usage of trims and machinery as well as styles for the both men's and women's garments. We believe that this alliance with NIFT will help take Raymond's tailoring services to the next level in keeping with fast changing customer needs. Besides this, the tie up will also recognise talent and nurture excellence in the entire fashion industry,'' he added.

NIFT Director General Gauri Kumar said, ''Raymond has been synonymous with excellence and is known for its innovations in the textile and apparel sector. The recent conferring of the statutory status reflects the public confidence in NIFT as thought leader for an important and growing sector of the economy and putting India on the centre stage of world fashion.''
