Railway revenue up 9.25 per cent
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) The Railways earned Rs 1508.45 crore during October 1-10 this year as compared to Rs 1380.74 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.25 per cent.
The total goods earnings went up from Rs 929.78 crore during the period last year to Rs 1025.24 crore, showing an increase of 10.27 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings were Rs 430.75 crore compared to Rs 408.81 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 5.37 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 39.19 crore during this period compared to Rs 31.14 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 25.85 per cent.
The total estimated number of passengers booked during the October 1-10 this year were 176.09 million as compared to 165.83 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.19 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 100.73 million and 75.36 million compared to 95.80 million and 70.03 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.15 per cent and 7.61 per cent respectively.
