Orissa Governor calls for new work culture
Rourkela, Oct 19 (UNI) Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur today urged the students to get rid of inefficiency and develop a new work culture based on ''punctuality and dedication''.
Orissa is poised for massive industrialisation, Mr Thakur said and asked the technically qualified students to explore the new possibilities, conquer new heights to take advantage of the situation.
Addressing the second convocation of Biju Patnaik University of Technology(BUPT), the Governor said Orissa has abundant natural resources, but it is yet to achieve the desired development and progress.
He said poverty is the biggest hurdle on the path of state's progress as 48 per cent people in the state still live below the poverty line.
'' Orissa is in a defining phase and has already attracted the world's big players in steel, aluminium, power generation, '' Mr Thakur said adding once these investments were materialised, the state would emerge as one of the most industrialised states in the country.
Mr Thakur said these industries would need large pool of skilled human resources and hoped BPUT would provide the country with trained manpower.
Stating that the progress of industrialisation should be concomitant with progress of technical education in Orissa, the Governor said the BPUT had been appropriately named after former Chief Minister Late Biju Patnaik, the architect of modern Orissa.
