One body recovered, 50 feared drowned in bus mishap
Rewa, MP, Oct 19 (UNI) One person died, while about 50 passengers were feared drowned when their bus fell into a 35 feet-deep pond in Govindgarh town near this district early today, police said.
The bus, carrying nearly 80 passengers, most of them labourers, was heading from Satna to Rewa when it lost balance and fell into the pond.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh Jain said efforts were on to rescue other bodies with the help of divers besides lifting the bus with a crane.
Senior officials rushed to the spot.
Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Ramakant Tiwari reached the spot and announced ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each to the family members of the deceased.
