Major fire at Bata shoe store in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 19 (UNI) A huge fire broke out at a major Bata shoe outlet at Elgin Road in South Kolkata this evening, engulfing the entire complex.

Fire Brigade sources told UNI that eight fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flame with police cordoning off the entire area.

Though the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, preliminary estimate revealed that thousands of shoes and other materials worth several lakh rupees had been destroyed.

However, there was no report of any injury.
