Kisan Commission to study farmers problems in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Oct 19 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said a Kisan Commission will be set up to study the problems of farmers and suggest remedial measures .
Addressing a state-level farmers meeting at a village in Salumber tehsil in Udaipur district yesterday, the Chief Minister announced the setting up of the Commission following a suggestion by former Union Agriculture Minister and BJP national president Rajnath Singh.
It may be recalled that farmers in Ganganagar district took to the streets for the second consecutive year demanding irrigation water for their crops. Last year, six people lost their life in police firing in the district.
Ms Raje complained that this year the state has suffered a loss of more than Rs 3000 crore due to flood but the Centre has not given adequate compensation.
She said the central sistance was confined to just Rs 100 crore till now and added the government is doing its best, within its limited resources, to provide succour to farmers who lost their crops.
