Kerala gets Rs 30 crore for fish, coir sericulture development
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Kerala was today sanctioned Rs 30 crores by the centre for setting up fish, coir and vegetable processing units and for promoting sericulture.
The screening committee for Swarna Jayanthi Gramin Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) special projects today gave its approval for two projects covering six districts.
One of the two projects envisage setting up of fish, coir and vegetable processing units in alapuzha district. The project would be promoted by Alapuzha district panchayat.
The second project on promotion of sericulture in districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kannur and Wayanad would be promoted by SERIFED.
The Kerala projects were presented by Rural Development Commissioner A Shajahan before the screening committee, chaired by Rural Development Secretary Renuka Vishwanath.
