Haryana beefs up security ahead of Diwali, Id

Chandigarh, Oct 19 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to beef up security arrangements all over the state in view of the coming festivals of Diwali and Id-ul-fitr.

Divisional Commissioners of all the four ranges of Gurgaon, Rohtak, Hisar and Ambala have been asked to intensify surveillance in all the districts, an official spokesman said.

They were also directed to increase police patrolling and sensitise the people to be more vigilant.

Special emphasis would be paid to protect the religious and other vital installations during the festival season.

Chief Secretary Prem Prashant today took stock of the security arrangements in the entire state through Video Conferencing held here to review the law and order and security issues in the state.

He expressed satisfaction over the installation of CCTV cameras in the malls of Faridabad and Gurgaon.

The conferencing was also attended by Principal Secretary (Home) K S Bhoria, Director General of Police Nirmal Singh and senior officers of the Home Department and CID.

Mr Prem Prashant also directed them to finalise their micro level action plan to meet any eventuality.

Mr Bhoria briefed the Commissioners and IGPs about the intelligence inputs received from Union Home Ministry and expressed concern over illegal migrants. He stressed the need to step up vigil and intelligence set up to thwart any terrorist activity.

DGP Nirmal Singh said the visibility of the police force would be increased to generate a sense of security among the people.
