GATI opens EDC in North East to help businesses
Guwahati, Oct 19 (UNI) GATI Limited, the leader in the logistics sector and the only express disribution and supply chain company in India, has opened its first Express Distribution Centre (EDC) here to help businesses grow in the North East.
This top-of-the-line facility will enable businessmen from the deepest parts of the North East to reach out to the rest of India on time and without any hassle, a company spokesman said while opening the EDC here yesterday.
Guwahati has always been an important strategic location for Gati in terms of business and connectivity to the difficult-to-reach locations he said.
The EDC offers customers the freedom to focus on their core competencies and leave the job of Supply Chain Management to Gati.
''While the customer concentrates on managing his production lines and sales, Gati will take care of his inventory, distribution, invoicing and even bill collection,'' he said.
The state-of-the-art EDC offers a World class Mechantronic Warehouse which is a combination of an ExpressCentre-for seamless Booking and Pick-ups-with top of the line Racking and Security systems, modern material handling equipment and an online Warehouse Management System,which adds immense value to any business.
The EDC here has a space of 24,000 sq ft on APL racking and is designed to help Gati to integrate seamlessly with the supply chains of its customers keen to make their presence felt in the North East.
The facility offers material handling equipment like pallet trucks, dock levelles, cargo lift and battery operated stackers, which improves the efficienty of handling, he said.
Gati reaches out to the entire North East with 10 Customer Convenience Centres (CCC) that will be directly connected to the EDC. It also gives customes unmatched access to the interiors of NE which helps customers to do business with Government bodies, Gati is also opening Kiosks in shopping mails to help customers access its services better.
The Guwahati EDC is part of Gati's plans to inves 0 million in the next thee years in opeing mechantronic warehouses, technology and improving delivery sysems.It also plans to add another one million sq ft. of mechantronic space in the next two years, resulting in a total of two million sq ft, in all major locations in India.
