DoP launches 'Fan Post' to reach celebrities
Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI) The Department of Posts (DoP) has launched the ''Fan Post'' service, whereby fans across the world can mail messages to their favourite idols and icons.
The Fan Post is a virtual post office that would bridge the gap between fans and icons by facilitating messages by just typing the name of the icon followed by Fan Post Office, Mumbai 400999.
Speaking after the launch here on Tuesday, Chief Post Master General (PMG) for Maharahstra and Goa K Noorjehan said that harried fans could now mail their messages to their favourite idols, with lesser trouble and more ease.
She said that the concept was developed a year ago, but could not be launched as a result of bureaucratic delays. The concept will be extended to other parts of the country also, she added.
Noted lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar, who graced the launch, reminded that in the era of modern communication gadgets, the old form of letter writing has not lost its charm due to shades of emotion attached to a letter.
''Once I received a letter only with my name and the city as Mumbai,'' he recalled a past incident and said that the postal department had always been efficient and sincere in disposing the letters to destinations they were bound for.
