Delimitation Commission identifies areas in J

Srinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) The Delimitation Commission in Jammu and Kashmir has launched on war-footing measures to identify areas to be delimited in accordance with the population for the newly-created district and tehsils in the state, an official spokesman said today.

The Commission members -- Mustaq Ahmad Ganaie Mumtaz Afzal and A G Shahbag -- visited various areas in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir yesterday.

The members held threadbare discussions with the district administration. During the meeting, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag G A Peer put forth some suggestions regarding the delimitation boundaries for Kulgam and new tehsil areas.

They said the delimitation of the newly-created Kulgam district and other tehsils would be done in proportion to the population.

The Commission said the delimitation was being done keeping in view the administrative convenience, public interest and grassroot level benefits for the people.
