Congress worker stabs wife to death

Rajkot, Oct 19 (UNI) A Congress worker from Rajkot allegedly stabbed his estranged wife to death in Jagnath Plot area here last night.

According to police, the deceased's daughter Anita said that her father, Baka Vasta alias Jaisukh Vasta, stabbed her mother Ranjan (46) thrice at the staircase of their flat at Ragukul Appartment.

After committing the crime, her father informed about the incident to the complainant (her daughters Anita and Pragna) that he had killed Ranjan.

Later, the accused fled from the scene.

The deceased and her accused husband were both Congress workers, the police said.

The victim had been married to Vasta for the past 25 years with five children - three sons and two daughters.

Since last three years, their relation was strained and Rajan had been living seperately with her two daughters in a flat at the Jaganath area.

The police have launched a man hunt to nab the culprit.
