CCL Plans 42 MT production in 2006-07

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) The Ranchi-based Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), a subsidiary company of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has achieved a new height in raw coal production by producing 40,513 million tonnes (MT) of coal during 2005-06, exceeding its previous year production of 37.39 MT, with a growth of 8.4 per cent.

Inspired by the achievement, the company has planned production of 42 MT and despatch of 42.50 MT during the year 2006-07.

According to a Ministry of Coal release issued here today, the company has earned a record profit of Rs 1164.98 crore during 2005-06 against Rs 437.81 crore during 2004-05, an improvement of Rs 727.17 crore within a year.

Over burden removal during 2005-06 was 49.97 million cu m as compared to 46.68 million cu m in the previous year. Coal off-take during the year at 38.62 MT was 27.3 lakh tones more than the previous year.

The company in Jharkhand State covers east and west Bokaro, Ramgarh, Giridih, North and South Karanpura, Hutar and Daltanganj Coalfields of Jharkhand.

Apart from several nationalized mines, it owns most of the mines of former National Coal Development Corporation Ltd.

The company produces medium coking coal (raw and washed), non-coking coal, soft coke and hard coke, the release added.
