BJP leader shot dead in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Oct 19 (UNI) Two unidentified criminals today shot dead former BJP district president (rural) Surendra Rai alias Rajaji at Sidrol village under Namkum police station here.

Police here said the incident occurred when Mr Rai went out for 'surya pranam' in the morning.

The criminals, following him, shot him from behind.

Rai was immediately rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Tension prevailed in the area as the news spread and angry people blocked the NH 31.

Two persons were arrested by police in this connection.
