BJP demands resignation of state FM

Agartala, Oct 19 (UNI) The Tripura Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded resignation of state Finance Minister Badal Choudhury owning moral responsibility for his alleged involvement in the online lottery scam.

Talking to mediapersons here last evening, senior BJP leader Sudhindra Dasgupta said the online lottery scam has exposed the that 'rampant corruption' taking place in the Left Front ruled state.

He demanded that the state Government should come clean on the entire matter. ''The Finance Minister should resign owning moral responsibity on the entire issue,'' he said.

The state Government has already banned the Tripura online lottery from October 16.

Meanwhile, the finance minister has already filed a defamation case against the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ratan Lal Nath (Congress) for misleading the people by spreading malicious propoganda against him.

The Tripura Government had launched an online lottery in February last year and Videocon International was given the responsibility of running it.
