Aluminium production up during April-Sep'06

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) The total production of aluminium metal in the country during April-September 2006 has been estimated at 5,54,300 tonnes as against 4,61,359 tonnes during the same period last year.

It has also crossed the monthly target of 5,51,949 tonnes.

Out of which, the public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) produced 1,80,088 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (BALCO) contributed 1,38,571 tonnes.

Besides, the private sector Hindalco Industries Ltd (HINDALCO) produced 2,16,479 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd (MALCO) produced 19,162 tonnes.

The total production of aluminium by these companies during September was 94,135 tonnes against a target of 90,557 tonnes, said an official statement issued here today.

Out of this, NALCO produced 29,502 tonnes, BALCO 25,576 tonnes, HINDALCO 35,966 tonnes and MALCO 3,091 tonnes.

NALCO, during the month sold 60,945 tonnes of alumina and hydrate and exported 8,335 tonnes of aluminium.
