Adhir Chowdhury's daughter critical

Kolkata, Oct 19 (UNI) The condition of Shreyashi Chowdhury, the daughter of Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury, remained critical today a day after she fell from the roof of their fifth floor south Kolkata apartment yesterday.

'' She has been put on ventillation and her condition continues to be critical though the operation conducted last night for her injuries was successful, '' a hospital spokesman said.

Police suspect that the 18-year-old daughter of the Congress strongman made a suicide bid yesterday afternoon by jumping off the rooftop of the building at Golpark.

She crashed on to the bonnet of a car parked below and was flung on the staircase of a jewellery shop housed in the ground floor, She received recewing multiple fractures on her hands and face while a severe blow to the chest caused clotting of blood in lungs.

Congress sources said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, who is said to be close to Mr Chowdhury, would make a dash to the city from Delhi to visit Sreyashi.

Mr Chowdhury and his wife were away when the incident occurred.

Mr Chowdhury got embroiled in controversy after being implicated along with his wife, Aripita in a twin murder case at Behrampore, his home town and constituency in Murshidabad district last year.
