Zoramthanga rules out scraping Inner Line Permit
Aizawl, Oct 18 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga today ruled out the possibility of scraping Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
Talking to newspersons, he said ''at present, my government does not have plans to scrap ILP.'' ''If we abolish the permits to outsiders, the state will be flooded with people within a year'', he said adding that such move would be considered suicidal.
Mr Zoramthanga also denied the reports that the state tourism economy was being hampered due to the existing ILP law.
He said the concerned department had already made a comprehensive plan to develop tourism in the region by improving the surface and air communications.
Besides, with the view to keep the tourism standards at par with the international level, the government had decided to privatise various tourist lodges across the state as a part of on-going developmental plans.
