Two VDC members rescued

Doda, oct 18 (UNI) Security forces rescued two Village Defence Committee (VDC) members from militants here today, police sources said.

''The VDC members, namely Ghulam Mohammad and Ghulam Hassan -- who were reportedly kidnapped along with two other hindu colleagues last week -- were rescued from Gundana forest area, about 40 kms from doda city,'' SSP Doda Manohar Singh told UNI.

Police were interrogating the rescued VDC members to ascertain if they were kidnapped, or had gone with thee militants willingly, he informed.

The other two hindu VDC members were earlier released by the militants on the day of kidnapping itself.
